Kucinich amendmend stripped from House bill? (lord_mike)
Seems like it:

http://www.americanchronicle.c...

This is an outrage!  This amendment was supposed to be the one sweetener they could throw to us after they watered down the bills to nothing.

I guess all we can do is call the leadership and hope they do the right thing... which they won't...

Amendment not amendmend n/t

REID: Voting against us was never part of our arrangement!
SPECTER: I am altering the deal! Pray I don't alter it any further!
REID: This deal keeps getting worse all the time!

why is this not surprising?
this bill is turning into a piece of shit

so what do progs get here?
so what do progs get out fo this again? no medicare po bc a handful of blue corss dems say no? no medicare 4 all in states which has passed single payer in their leges like CA? disgusting. like chris points out-progs int he house are showing their anger about this deal. i find it interesting they are going finally to the wh. they better raise hell. and if this passes i hope they keep pushing to amend the bill for medicare po etc.. they have to

Out-of-work progs might get a job.
The insurance companies will probably need to do some hiring to handle the 30-million-plus new customers this bill ("bonanza!") gives them.

Nobody could have predicted...

One of the original selling points that "progressives" had for "public option" was that it would evolve into single payer.

Now all we've got is semantics. Yay!

I am in earnest -- I will not equivocate -- I will not excuse -- I will not retreat a single inch -- AND I WILL BE HEARD.

This Healthcare Bill Is Only About Politics Anyway
Supporters of universal healthcare should have always been prepared to kill this bill. Sellouts shouldn't be the only ones showing political muscle.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So what's the problem with the public health option?
LANDRIEU: Well, many of us believe, George, that it will undermine the private insurance system.

The Kucinich amendment had BIPARTISAN support
isn't that what turns President Obama on?

Not when it accomplishes progressive ends --
-- like truly universal coverage, serious cost-cutting and controls, funding partially via a tax on Wall Street casino transactions -- and cuts the profits of major campaign "contributors" like the for-profiteers.

[ Parent ]
obama and the democrats don't have a bipartisan fetish
they don't care about bipartisanship

they just use it as a front for their corporate sellouts

Um....
I don't see anything concrete there about the Kucinich amendment being stripped out. It all seems to be speculation on the blogger's part.

See this diary

Kucinich says it was stripped.
